Leeds United wants Former Real Madrid Star Diego Llorente

Championship Champions and newly promoted side Leeds United are set to sign Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, according to reports given by the club. The Spain international would provide back-up for first-choice centre-back pairing Robin Koch and Liam Cooper. Leeds United have conceded seven goals in their first two Premier League games, losing 4-3 to Liverpool on the EPL Matchday 1 and winning Fulham in the Matchday 2.

The former Real Madrid 27-year-old defender can also play in midfield as well as all the roles in the defence line. Leeds are pursuing their fifth major signing of the summer following promotion to the Premier League. Manager Marcelo Bielsa has already spent significant money, including a club record £26m for former Valencia forward Rodrigo, £13m on Freiburg defender Koch, and £16m on ex-Wolves winger Helder Costa, who scored twice in the win over Fulham.

A post on Real Sociedad’s Twitter page said: “Real Sociedad and Leeds United have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Diego Llorente. “We wish you the best of luck in this new stage of your career, Diego. Thank you for the three years you have been part of our club. Good luck.” Leeds United are yet to confirm the transfer has been completed.
