Gal Pissetzky, the legal representative to suspected internet fraudster, Ramon Abbass also known as Hushpuppi has opined that the popular Instagram celebrity is not guilty of any of the charges pressed against him.
Pissetzky made this known while speaking during an interview with Forbes.
He stated that Hushpuppi was running a very legitimate business and had a legitimate Instagram account and did not take part in any scam or fraud.
According to him, Hushpuppi is an entrepreneur and has a real estate business.
He further noted that before his arrest and detention, Hushpuppi was making legitimate money by promoting brands on his social media handle.
Hushpuppi, who is currently being tried for fraud and several internet scams was recently extradited to the US from the UAE for multiple charges of fraud.
His life of luxury was put on hold in June after he was arrested in Dubai and extradited to America to face criminal charges over allegations of engaging in cybercrime.
According to Forbes, the FBI’s affidavit alleges that Hushpuppi conspired to launder funds stolen in a $14.7 million cyber-heist from a foreign financial institution.
He was also accused of a scheme to steal $124 million from an English Premier League soccer club in May 2019.
It was gathered that if convicted of conspiracy to engage in money laundering, Abbas would face a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
