The speaker of Gombe House of Assembly, Abubakar Ibrahim Kurba has been impeached and given marching order by the state lawmakers.
It was gathered that the event threw the parliament into turmoil. Kurba was impeached following a motion by a former deputy speaker who was impeached earlier this year, Shuaibu Adamu.
Also, the majority leader of the state assembly was sacked as 16 out of the 24 members of the assembly led by the former deputy speaker Adamu signed the letter to that effect.
In the meantime, Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo has been announced as the new speaker of the house while also Yarima Gaule from Kaltungo East was announced as the new majority leader.
According to a lawmaker, Musa Buba, the impeached speaker was found guilty of going against the rules and guidelines of the house.
Buba added that a vote of no confidence was passed on the impeached Speaker and the House resolved that impeaching him was the best option.
