Recuperating Mainz forward, Taiwo Awoniyi after he waking up in the hospital following his head collision injury in their last game said he thought he had passed out. The Nigerian and Liverpool player who is currently serving his loan spell with German Bundesliga side Mainz suffered a concussion that left him unconscious in their last game against Augsburg.

Taiwo Awoniyi was rushed to the University hospital in Mainz immediately after the incident on the pitch in the 17th minute of the game, he went for an aerial duel with Felix Uduokhai and then collided with his head. The 22-year-old has consequently been ruled out of Wednesday’s match against Borussia Dortmund.
