Lagos State Takes Action Against Upcoming Lekki Tollgate Protest

Share

Lagos State government has taken actions against the upcoming Lekki Tollgate protest planned to hold on February 13, 2021, to demand justice for the #EndSARS Lekki Tollgate massacre victims.

According to Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State governor, Gboyega Akosile, state residents have been advised not to participate in the fresh Lekki Tollgate protest tagged, #OccupyLekkiTollgate.

The organisers of the #OccupyLekkiTollgate protest demand to know the person or persons who gave the order for the shooting of innocent and armless #EndSARS protesters by men of the Nigerian army.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the order for the protesters’ shooting came from quarters beyound his control.

Plans to hold a fresh protest at the same location of the October 20, 2020 massacre was fuelled by the order to re-open the Lekki Tollgate plaza that has been ineffective since the incident.

Meanwhile, another protest that looks like a counter move against the #OccupyLekkiTollgate protest has been planned to hold on the same day, venue and time.

The counter-protest was tagged #DefendLagos to forestall a repeat of the massive burning and destruction of public and private property after the #EndSARS protest was reportedly hijacked.

Akosile while trending #DontLetThemBringLagosDown urged the state residents to resist any action that could lead to further unrest in the state.
