The Lagos state government has sealed up a total of 42 buildings around the Lekki area of the state.
Making this known to the public was Mr Mukaila Sanusi who is the spokesman to the Lagos state commissioner for physical planning and urban development, Idris Salako.
According to Mr Mukaila Sanusi, commissioner Salako said the lockdown of the buildings was necessitated by the desire to stop the collapse of buildings in the state, by sealing up of buildings that have no permit and have not adhered to the proper planning measures.
The commissioner said, “This explains why we must stop those who are bent on jeopardising the operative development plans of Lagos state by not tolerating any form of illegal physical development.”
This operation aimed at ensuring compliance with the physical planning laws of the Lagos state government started on Tuesday with the sealing up of 19 buildings in Lekki, with another set shutdown on Thursday to make the total of 42 buildings shut down in the Lekki area of the state.
The commissioner adviced the residents affected by the closure to report to physical planning and urban development ministry to work on perfecting their documents.
