Finally, the Police Command in Lagos State has come out to give the correct information regarding the dispatch rider that was alleged to have stolen a 10-month-old baby inside the box behind the motorcycle.
The rider was cleared of any wrongful doings as the Police denied reports that a he, Williams Tadule, was seen with the child in the Sangotedo area of Lagos last Saturday is an abductor.
Their investigations show that the Tadule has been found to be a relation of the baby and became a victim of jungle justice because the suspicious mob didn’t confirm before beating him black and blue.
According to the command, the mother of the baby, Lovina Biturs and Williams Tadule, are relatives and allowed the rider to go with the baby.
On that sad day, the rider was almost mobbed to death by a crowd, which accused him of abducting the child found in his courier box.
Lovina Bitrus noted she allowed the ten-month-old baby to go with Williams when he was crying so as to pacify him.
Police Warns Against Jungle Justice
“Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the child was not stolen after all and that he was not kept in the courier box as alleged by the mob.” the police statement read in part.
However, CP, Abiodun Alabi, warns members of the public against any form of jungle justice as such uncivilised action has grave consequences.
