A Lagos State High Court has given an order that the alleged rapist and killer Bus Rapid Transit, BRT driver be kept in a correctional facility.
His name, Andrew Ominnikoron, was reportedly responsible for the death of a female passenger who was unaccounted for after she was later discovered dead.
On Tuesday, the Court ordered that Ominnikoron be held in a correctional centre, as the Lagos State Government charged Ominnikoron with four counts bordering on conspiracy, murder, and rape.
During the court session, Justice Sherifat Sonaike ordered that the defendant be remanded in the centre at Ikoyi, Lagos.
She adjourned the case until May 9 for trial and Earlier, the Director for Public Prosecutions, DPP, Dr. Jide Martins, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Nov.25, 2021, and Feb. 26, at Lekki Conservation Centre, Lekki-Ajah Expressway and Carter bridge, Lagos.
The DPP said that on Feb. 26, the defendant conspired with others still at large and killed a 22-year-old BRT passenger and threw her out of a moving bus, adding that they also raped the passenger.
