Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has denied reports making the rounds that he tested positive for coronavirus, COVID-19.
Abayomi who described the reports as fake urged people of the State and Nigerians to not to pay attention to it.
He clarified this on his Twitter handle, noting that the people behind the reports aimed to create unnecessary anxiety among people of the State.
“It is evident that the fake news is calculated at causing panic and unnecessary anxiety amongst the populace.
He further advised people of the State to play their part in curtailing the further spread of the virus across the State.
“Remain vigilant and continue to play your part as responsible citizens in curtailing the spread of #COVID19 in our communities.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has announced that Lagos state topped the chart among the states that has the highest number of confirmed cases of persons infected by the virus with Lagos having 1, 491 as on Thursday.
