The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a blistering attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as an “80-year-old political tourist” following his decision to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, criticised Atiku’s latest political move, accusing him of desperation and an “incurable addiction to party-hopping.”
Oladejo questioned the rationale behind Atiku’s political ambitions at his age, suggesting that his decision to switch parties yet again reflects a pattern of personal interest rather than national concern.
“At his age, one wonders what Atiku is looking for,” Oladejo said, adding that the former Vice President’s move to the ADC is another chapter in a long history of political migration.
Atiku, who has previously contested for Nigeria’s presidency multiple times under different parties, has not yet responded to the APC’s remarks. His decision to join the ADC has already stirred political debates nationwide, especially as it comes ahead of intense political realignments.
The development marks yet another point of tension between the APC and one of Nigeria’s most persistent political figures, signalling that the coming months may be filled with even sharper exchanges.
