Sead Kolasinac Returns to Schalke 04

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac has returned to German side Schalke 04 on loan for the rest of the season. This is as a result of the work Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said about offloading players in the January transfer window which he said is like a “priority” for him.

The 27-years-old Bosnia-Herzegovina left-back Kolasinac began his career with the German side before moving to Arsenal in 2017.

According to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, he said:”We cannot sustain the numbers we have in certain positions.” “There are some players that are going to go on loan and going to leave.

“The manager also said: “That is the priority. Then we will see if we have the right opportunity in the positions where we need some more help.” Kolasanic has made 113 appearances for Arsenal and was part of last season’s FA Cup-winning squad.

This term, he has started only one Premier League match but has featured in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Arsenal technical director Edu said: “Sead needs to be playing regularly, so we have decided together that a move back to Germany with Schalke will benefit him at this moment.”

Arsenal already has three first-team players out on loan – centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos is at Stuttgart, while midfielders Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are at Atletico Madrid and Hertha Berlin respectively.

The Gunners are 13th in the Premier League after 16 games, following back to back win over Chelsea and Brighton which ended a run of seven matches without a win.
