Kidnappers Ask for N60m to Release Councillor, Others

Kidnappers who snatched a serving councillor and nine other persons have asked for the whooping sum of sixty million naira ransom to be paid before they guarantee the freedom of their victims.

The Local Government Area, LGA official, among others, were scooped up at Yar Tsakuwa in Rabah area of Sokoto State, where it was reported that the armed men first raided the settlement at around 12 midnight up until 3am.

According to news making the rounds, the abductors had already contacted the families of the victims demanding that they raise the money within a speculated time.

An eyewitness, Abdullahi, living within the area where the incident occurred, revealed that the moment the families attempted negotiating the price for their release due to how expensive the N60 million sounds, he said the kidnappers immediately dropped the call.

However, the eyewitness explained that it would be really difficult for them to come up with such outrageous amount, adding that the families struggle to feed their household.

Meanwhile, as at the time of compiling materials for this report, there was no confirmation from the state police command.
