Kidnappers Abduct Catholic Priest in Kaduna State

Some kidnappers have reportedly abducted a Catholic priest in Kaduna State after the church confirmed the incident to the public yesterday.

The victim, according to the present Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, is one of the influential priests, Rev. Father Joseph Shekari of St Monica’s Catholic Church, Ikulu Parish.

It would be noted that the area, Ikulu parsh, is in Kauru Local Government Area, LGA of KadunaState, where he was said to have made a lot of difference by touching the lives of members in the area.

As contained in the press release issued by the church, on Monday, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Father Emmanuel Okolo, said Shekari was kidnapped at about 11.30 p.m. on Sunday from his residence.

The Chancellor of the Diocese solicited for prayers, saying that the Church would do everything legally possible to secure the priest quick and safe release.

Saying a prayer to guarantee the safe return of the kidnapped priest, Rev Father Okolo prayed, saying, “May Jesus crucified on the cross, listen to our prayers and hasten the unconditional release of His priest and all others kidnapped.”
