Former Super Eagle’s player Kanu Nwankwo has come out to explain his colleague’s visit to Bola Tinubu’s home.
In a viral video that surfaced in the weekend, some ex-footballers including Austin Okoch, Taribo West, Kanu Nwankwo, Victor Ikpeba and others were spotted having a meeting at the garden of the APC presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu.
The video has sparked different reactions online with many criticizing the ex-players and calling them names.
Kanu in a recent video explaining their visit revealed that the gesture was not politically motivated.
Kanu PPledges Support for Tinubu
He said they visited Tinubu’s residence in respect of his 70th birthday and a proposed novelty match.
The 45-year-old further disclosed that Tinubu had once come through for his foundation when they needed support.
“People are talking, please pay attention. I’m not a politician, I’m a footballer and a proud one, I’m a legend. I know what is good and what is not good,” Kanu stated.
“22 years ago, Kanu heart Foundation was looking for people to help us. We got only three governors. Ahmed Tinubu was one of them,” he continued.
“He gave the foundation money to start up. He supported us. And now, it’s his 70th birthday. Why not, we also have to come and support him.
“Please, don’t keep on talking and talking, make sure this time around you pick up the PVC and vote for the right person and let us get the right person there,” he concluded.
