32 year old man locked up for 7 years by father and stepmother has been rescued by police in Kano state
Ahmad Aliyu, a 32 year old man locked up for 7 years by his father and stepmother in Farawa Babban Layi, Mariri Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano state has been rescued by officers of the Kano state police command.
A concerned neighbour had alerted the Farawa police and Human Rights Network, an NGO specialising in the protection of human rights.
A video showing the victim, emaciated and dehydrated. This was when the police swooped into action and rescued. It was later discovered that Ahmad was denied food and water and had to drink his urine when he was very thirsty.
According to reports, Ahmad was locked up for years when his parents had suspicions that he had started smoking and consuming drugs.
The police officers arrested Ahmad’s father and stepmom after the rescue while he was taken away to receive care.
