It’s not a secret about what’s been going on concerning Jussie Smollett and the alleged ‘MAGA Attack’. So let’s give you a low down on the latest concerning the case.
In case you don’t know who he is; He’s the star in the hit Fox show ‘Empire‘, playing Jamal Lyon, second son of (fictional) music legend Lucious Lyon. Jussie Smollett openly identifies himself as gay, synonymous to the character he plays.
Meanwhile, being a international favourite it came as a shock to the world when he was attacked.
According to the timeline of the incident;
On January 22, 2019. he received a threatening letter sent to the fox studio, where the show is filmed.
January 29, around 2 a.m in Chicago. The actor reported that he was attacked, a rope tried around his neck, bleach poured on him and homophobic slurs made.
Police raid the home of two Nigerian brothers named Abel and Ola Osundairo; finding black masks, a plain red hats and magazines. The brothers who were extras on the show. Phone records show that Jussie and the brothers were in communication, an hour before the time of the attack and after.
There’s also a check showing that Jussie paid the pair $3500, which according to him is for personal training. Saying he was scheduled to shoot a music video the forthcoming weeks.
The story doesn’t go well for Jussie Smollett. The Nigerian brothers are cooperating with authorities. They say that the payment was for the attack also the entire thing was staged and even rehearsed.
Reports say the reason of all these is Jussie wanting more pay from the Empire producers. There are allegations that he wasn’t happy the letter wasn’t taken seriously and the attack happened 1 week later. Jussie met with the other cast members at the Fox studios to affirm his innocence.
Currently he is granted special permission to travel to meet his favourite celebrity lawyer Gerago. Who is based in Los Angeles and has represented Colin Kaepernick, Chris Brown and Michael Jackson in the past. Although, he had to submit his passport in court.
Though, Jussie Smollett’s lawyers say there are lots more evidence proving his innocence that’s yet to be submitted to court. In short, both sides make a very compelling case. We just wait to see what happens in the forthcoming days.
