Jordan Ayew and Bernard Mensah Becomes first Ghanaian Players to Test Positive for Coronavirus

Crystal Palace and Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew has been confirmed positive for coronavirus, this information was made known by the head coach Roy Hodgson. The manager said the Ghanaian international has tested positive for coronavirus. The 29-year-old returned a positive test on Friday, having spent the international break with Ghana, and missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton.

He is currently in self-isolation according to the government guidelines which states that he must self-isolate for 10 days and test negative before he can return to training or join other people. According to the coach he said: “I don’t know [when we’ll have him back].” “We have to follow the relative government and Premier League guidelines before we see him again.”

“He’s been away with Ghana, which we weren’t exactly delighted to accept that he had to do. Like several other Ghanaian players, I believe when they have gone back to their clubs, they have tested positive.” Jordan Ayew is not the only player to return with a positive result as fellow countryman Bernard Mensah also tested positive for coronavirus after returning to his club side Besiktas following international duty.

Both players are now currently self-isolating in their various club sides receiving treatment and awaiting a negative result before joining their teammates.
