One of the trending topics on Nigerian Twitter is ‘GB WhatsApp’ which got singer, Johnny Drille to join in the conversation.
GB WhatsApp is a feature on WhatsApp; an app which allows users to send text messages and voice messages, make voice and video calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other content.
The feature which helps to stay incognito (hidden) has got Nigerians talking.
Johnny Drille stated that he won’t trust anyone using this particular feature of WhatsApp.
He tweeted, “I’m going to say it again, I can’t fully trust you if your WhatsApp ‘read receipt’ is off.
“You either read and respond to my message or you don’t. Do it with your chest lol“ he added.
This has made Twitter users to bombard his comment section with their opinions.
@pius_ib wrote, “There’s a reason the owner of the app added that feature though.“
@that_blacc_girl commented, “Incognito is the best mode abeg! Nobody should stress me!”
Another user @AgbrokoHarriet simply wrote, “I feel attacked”
While @TheIshanQueen wrote, “I also don’t see if someone has read mine too. It’s a two way thing. And honestly, I don’t like being monitored or pressured to reply a message I don’t want to or can’t reply in that moment…or ever.”
