Joao Cancelo Test Positive for Covid-19

Manchester City and Portugal defender Joao Cancelo is likely to miss the opening game of their Euro 2020 clash with Hungary after testing positive for coronavirus. The news came just a day before their Euro 2020 opener. The 27-year-old has been dropped from the squad and replaced by Manchester United right-back who is currently on loan with AC Milan Diogo Dalot.

Joao Cancelo Dropped from Portugal Squad

A test was carried out on all the Portuguese players, and they are tested negative except for Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, who tested positive. He is currently self-isolating, and he becomes the latest player to test positive for the virus after Spain and Barcelona playmaker Sergio Busquets tested positive for the virus.

The defending champions Portugal will begin their Group F campaign against Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday, before playing Germany on the 19th of June and then France on the 23rd of June.
