Jigawa State Set to Close COVID-19 Isolation Centres

The government of Jigawa State is set to close COVID-19 isolation centres in the state as from Monday 22nd June.

Jigawa State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abba Zakari who is also the state’s COVID-19 task force chairman made this known to reporters on Thursday.

The chairman said this comes as a result of the number of active cases in the state, with the state having only eight cases present in the three isolation centres after discharging eleven patients that tested negative twice consecutively for the novel coronavirus.

The chairman also pointed out that five out of the eight active cases are in the Fanisau isolation centre, two more are in the infectious disease centre and the last one is in the Rasheed Shekoni isolation centre.

He said, “Due to the decreasing number of COVID-19 patients in the state, the state would combine all the patients in its infectious disease center, Fanisau and Rasheed Shekoni’s isolation centers would temporarily be closed on Monday”

Jigawa state has recorded a total of 317 COVID-19 cases, while about 257 patients had tested negative twice consecutively and been discharged from isolation, and a total of 9 lives lost to the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
