Manchester United new siging Jadon Sancho will miss England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Poland because of injury (minor knock). The 21-year-old winger was hurt in training earlier this week, in their game against Hungary which ended 4-0 in their favour.
Jadon Sancho will now return to Manchester United leaving Gareth Southgate with a 23-man squad. A statement from England said Sancho was “expected to recover in time” to play for Manchester United against Newcastle on Saturday, 11 September.
Sancho has played all three of Manchester United games in the 2021/22 English Premier League season since joining United for £73m from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. He made his first start in their 1-0 win at Wolves before the international break.
The former Manchester City youth player has scored three goals in 22 appearances for England. England will host Andorra on Sunday (17:00 BST) before travelling to Poland on Wednesday (19:45 BST).
