Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi has been cleared to feature in the team’s final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho after he tested negative for coronavirus.
He had missed the penultimate clash against Benin in Port-Novo after returning a positive test for the virus just before the game.
However, after the match, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr raised doubts about the results’ authenticity and confirmed the Everton winger would undergo another test in Nigeria.
And Rohr’s doubts have now been confirmed as the Everton man returned a negative test, which was carried out on Monday evening.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed this in a statement released on the federation’s official Twitter handle.
Iwobi has been a key member of the Super Eagles since his debut in 2015 after switching his allegiance to England.
The midfielder has made 44 appearances for the West African country, scoring nine goals amid dazzling performances.
