The first time many people around the world got to know about Andy Ruiz Jr. was June 1 2019 during the first boxing bout that involved him and Anthony Joshua after the former emerged the winner of the bout.
The Mexican boxer tried, but the rematch which took place on December 7, 2019, was not in his favor as Joshua recovered the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles.

Ruiz is an American professional boxer of Mexican descent, he became the first male boxer of Mexican heritage to become a world heavyweight champion.
