Some internet fraudsters will be under the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, following allegations of conducting some illegal transactions that go against the dictates of the law.
The Ibadan Zonal Office of the EFCC, on Monday 23, 2021, revealed that the commission arrested thirty-seven suspected internet fraudsters in the state of Oyo.
The EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement issued to reporters in the city capital, confirmed the incident that occurred on Friday 20, 2021.
The Agency reports that the suspects were arrested in Ibadan and Oyo towns, both in Oyo State, as plans are already in place to arraign them in court.
EFCC Arrests 37 Internet Fraudsters
Uwujaren said that the commission arrested the suspects following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud and other shady businesses.
While reiterating that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the commission concludes investigations, the spokesperson advised that Nigerian citizens stay out of fraudulent activities to avoid apprehension.
