On the occasion of the 2020 International Youth Day, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has urged Nigerian Youths to remain hopeful in the face of the different happenings in the country.

In a tweet, Gbajabiamila disclosed that he joined youths from across Nigeria in a webinar to mark the day.

However, the Speaker opined that the pessimism Nigerian Youths feel about politics has negatively impacted their willingness to get involved in the critical conversations about the nation’s future.

He said, “My fellow young men and women, I know that on many of the issues that affect our lives, it would appear as if the political leaders have left the room and there is no one left to find solutions to our problems.”

However, he further stated that nobody will ever believe the political process can change anything or meet the expectations of young Nigerians if everyone thinks that politics is the preserve of the cynical and the mercenary.

He urged Nigerian Youths to resist the seductive draw of such debilitating cynicism stressing that the future belongs to the Youths as he also congratulated Nigerian Youths on the occasion of this year’s International Youth Day.
