Insecurity: Northern Elders Fed-up with President Buhari’s Leadership

Share

Insecurity issues once again has made the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, to express how dissatisfied they are with the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and has asked that he honorably resigns.

NEF who demanded the President’s resignation pointed out the high level of insecurity in the country and other related vices that have placed Nigeria in an unfavorable economic situation.

They spoke on the killings across the country, especially in the North, adding that a good leader would know when to call it a quit and leave before things get to an unrecoverable state.

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, NEF Director, spoke elaborately on the issue in a statement made available to journalists yesterday.

NEF Statement Addresses Insecurity Issues in Northern Nigeria

The statement reads in part: “The administration of President Buhari does not appear to have answers to the challenges of security to which we are exposed. We cannot continue to live and die under the dictates of killers, kidnappers, rapists, and sundry criminal groups that have deprived us of our rights to live in peace and security.”

He further hinted that the Nigerian constitution has provisions for leaders to voluntarily step down if they are challenged by personal reasons or they prove incapable of leading.
