The comptroller general of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Muhammad Babandede has sanctioned the promotion of 3,548 of the agency’s junior staff.
Mr Sunday James who is a spokesman for the Nigerian Immigration Service made this known to newsmen in the federal capital territory on Sunday in a statement.
Mr James said the comptroller general of the NIS, Mr Muhammad Babandede had given the order for all the command offices of the NIS in the country to release the list of those promoted in the service immediately. The comptroller-general said the staff promoted were between the rank of immigration assistants up to inspectors of immigration.
He also congratulated the promoted staff in his statement, disclosing that the promotion was as a result of loyalty, discipline and hard work from the staff.
Mr Muhammad Babandede in a bid to boost the command’s border patrol against illegal immigrants inaugurated the forward operations base (FOB) in the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service, this is the 13th FOB in the state, according to him.
The FOB is equipped with modernized facilities and gadgets to help officers in their jobs against illegal immigrants in the country. He also asked for the officers in the field to justify the assistance gotten from the federal government by ensuring the proper use of these resources in discharging their duties.
