Radio and Television Personality, Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, known as IK, has called out Airport Authorities in Nigeria over the security of passengers in transit at the airport.
Ik took to his Instagram page to lament the mandatory tax being paid by vehicles towing the airport, whether parking or just pick up.
He added that it is unfair to force those arriving at the airport to pay, especially Muritala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.
“I believe that people should have a choice as to whether or not they need to pay and park at the airport or if only a quick pick up is required. It’s unfair to force people arriving in the country (or at MM2) pay.”
He noted that passengers are forced to push their luggage to a far away parking lot which puts them at risk of being boggled.
“Think about the security of passengers as they are forced to push their luggage through poorly lit paths (with uncovered portions) to a far away parking lot.”
He added, “that could be your aged grandparent, your pregnant wife or simply your teenage child.”
Ik noted that there has to be a better approach to this as you don’t have passengers vulnerable to people loitering around, trying to swindle those arriving at the airport.
IK is known for his work with Rhythm 93.7FM, where he was an OAP for 18 years, and a presenter of the Big Brother Africa show for six consecutive years.
