The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, has been asked to start investigating reports and stories of the unfair treatment meted upon Nigerians by foreigners living in Nigeria.
The Senate who passed the directive pointed out that there have been reports of extreme torture of our citizens by privileged white people settled here in Nigeria and stand as employers of labor.
The Nigerian Senate made the call in the middle of its resolutions on a motion entitled, “Urgent Need to Check the Alarming Trend of Inhuman Treatment and Torture of Nigerian Citizens by Foreign Nationals in the Country.”
During their session, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, Bayelsa East, who sponsored the motion to check the excesses of these non-indigenes, stated that the tales of torture should require immediate action and that those foreigners involved should all be brought to face the full strength of the law.

Backing up his claims, Senator Degi-Eremienyo, narrated a story on how a Lebanese employer ordered his Nigerian employees to torture and agonise fellow Nigerian workers under his payroll until some died in the maltreatment process.
He also noted that a Chadian was killed in the process and till now, only some of the suspects that meted the pain on their fellow brothers have been apprehended by the police, while the Lebanese is still at large.
