Following reports about the discovery and looting of COVID-19 warehouses in some parts of the country, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC says it will be investigating the rationale behind the storage of the palliatives.
The commission in a statement released on Tuesday, October 27, said it will partner the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and private houses to investigate the sources of goods looted from palliatives warehouses.
It was gathered that the ICPC will also scale up the monitoring of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) charged with the acquisition and distribution of COVID-19 palliative relief materials and make public its findings in due course.
In a related development, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Faruk has reacted to allegations that she was hoarding COVID-19 palliatives.
Speaking in Gusau, Zamfara State, the Minister said she has forgiven all those who accused her wrongly and prays that God forgives everyone. Faruk stressed that she was aware of how some people made various spurious allegations and accusations against his person and ministry over the way the Federal Government palliatives were distributed to cushion the effect of COVID-19.
