Former Ajax and Barcelona Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to miss their Europa League clash against his former side Manchester United after suffering a thigh injury in their 2-1 win over AS Roma.
The striker is likely to miss both legs of the Europa League tie against Manchester United. Zlatan Ibrahimovich has been in top form since arriving at the Italian Serie A. He is currently among the top goal scorers, although he has played the lesser game.
The 39-year-old scored 29 goals in 53 games for Manchester United before he joined the MLS side L.A Galaxy. He was substituted in the 56th minute of Milan’s last match, which was against A.S Roma.
The two legs of the last-16 tie will be played on the 11th and the 18th of March. The Swede has scored 16 goals in 21 games this season for AC Milan. AC Milan sits in the second place position in Serie A table, four points behind rivals Inter Milan.
However, after striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic went off to protect against a groin injury, Milan scored the winner through Ante Rebic’s shot on the turn following Alexis Saelemaekers’ pass.
The injury has now denied Ibrahimovic the chance of playing against his former side, and he is likely to miss the two legs.
