As parts of efforts aim towards fighting corruption in Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has launched a mobile App, “Eagle Eye”, for Online Reporting of Economic Crimes.

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, the anti-graft agency launched the Eagle Eye App to make it easy for Nigerians and Non-Nigerians to report Economic and Financial crimes.

According to the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Eagle Eye App is a product of ingenuity by an EFCC staff; Bawa further described the App as the first of its kind by any Nigerian law enforcement agency.

Bawa added that the idea about the App was conceived, designed and developed by the EFCC. He noted that the initiative is a clear demonstration of his pledge on the assumption of office to run a technology-driven agency.

The EFCC Boss opined that the Eagle Eye represents a new experience in information sharing and crime reporting between the public and the anti-graft agency.

The EFCC Chairman explained that the App eliminates direct person-to-person interface in the reporting process and guarantees anonymity, an added incentive to effective whistleblowing.

Bawa emphasized that those afraid to report corruption cases to the Commission can now do so with the assurance of total anonymity and without the fear of being identified by the culprits or having their identities revealed.

He said the Eagle Eye App would go a long way in aiding the reportage of individuals’ fraudulent activities, particularly Money Laundering through Real Estate.

Bawa said that Nigerians and Non-Nigerians could easily take a picture of a property suspected to have been fraudulently acquired and report through the Eagle Eye App.

How To Use The “Eagle Eye” App

The EFCC Chairman said Eagle Eye is a user-friendly application with features that any literate person can navigate.

1.Bawa urged Nigerians and Non-Nigerians to visit Apple or Google Play Store, download and install the App.

2.Take a screenshot of what you want the EFCC to see

3.Upload the pictures via the App.

Meanwhile, for those who want to key into the Whistle Blowing Policy of the Federal Government and obtain a reward for reporting corruption, such persons should indicate in the information they are providing.

Bawa warned that there are penalties stipulated in the laws for giving false information that could mislead the Commission.
