In line with the directive issued by the Federal government that Nigerians should link their sim card to NIN, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has shed more light on the possibility of linking multiple sim cards to a NIN.
According to the Minister, up to seven SIM cards can be linked to one NIN through the Mobile App recently launched by the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC.
Pantami explained that the Ministry of Communication and NIMC has entered into a partnership to transform the NIN enrolment process.
The Minister said a Mobile App was developed to allow people who have gotten their NIN to link up to seven sim cards to one NIN without visiting the NIMC office.
Pantami described the Mobile App as part of the digitalization process embarked upon by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
NIN And Mobile App
Earlier, the Minister has approved the release of an improved National Identity Number (NIN) slip and a Mobile App as part of the policy to improve the process of obtaining NIN and linking it to SIM.
The NIMC Mobile App and the improved National Identification Number (NIN) Slip are now available for public use with a secured channel for all Nigerians and legal residents to easily verify and authenticate their identities on-the-go using smartphones.
Meanwhile, the Mobile App also enables them to link the NIN to their phone numbers.
