The House of Representatives has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, to investigate and prosecute those behind the gruesome murder of an Akwa Ibom based job seeker, Hinny Humoren.

A lawmaker representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency of Akwa Ibom State, Unyime Idem, who raised the motion during Tuesday’s plenary briefed the House about how the job seeker was murdered and the need to get justice for her family.

The lawmaker recalled that Humoren, a graduate of the University of Uyo, was awaiting her National Youth Service before some criminal elements killed her in the course of a purported job interview.

According to the lawmaker, the deceased’s family members have reportedly raised an alarm over threats of various degrees.

He lamented the alarming rate of rape cases and other violent crimes against women and the need to punish anyone found guilty of committing such a crime.

However, through a motion under matters of urgent public importance, the House mandated the Police Boss to protect Umoren’s family members.

EveryEvery.ng had reported that Hinny Humoren received a phone call from the assailant who pretentiously invited her to a false interview of an advertised job.

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force later found Humoren dead, and they exhumed her body where it was buried in a shallow grave by her assailant.

Meanwhile, upon his arrest, the assailant had boasted that he was well connected and would be released from Police custody.
