High Court Swings Judgement in Favour of IPOB Leader

Share

A High Court in Abia State has passed a judgement in favour of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The court awarded him one billion dollars in the case filed through his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor.

The money is meant to cover damages for his father’s property that was invaded by the Nigerian Military Personnel on September 10, 2017.

The case in the Abia State court was conducted by Justice Benson Anya in Umuahia, the state capital on Wednesday 19, 2022.

The Indigenous People of Biafra in the case against the Federal Government of Nigeria following the unlawful ransacking of Kanu’s family residence in the state prompted the judge’s action who ruled in his favour.

Former Request at Abia State High Court

Initially, Kanu, through his lawyer, Ejimakor, had approached the court seeking N5bn damage against the Federal Government over the alleged invasion by the military.

It was gathered from the courtroom that Hon. Justice Anya described the invasion of Kanu’s Afaraukwu residence as notorious and brazen.

He, however, struck out other reliefs sought by Kanu’s legal team, including his repatriation from Kenya and continued detention by the DSS.
