In the evening hours yesterday, herdsmen launched a surprise attack on drivers plying Ikom-Calabar Highway, raining heavy gunshots on their vehicles and abducting no fewer than eight passengers in the process.
Speaking with two of the affected drivers (names withheld), a man that conducted the interview asked pertinent questions regarding the sad event.
Responding, one of the motorists said the bandits appeared from nowhere when they immediately opened fire and shot the tires of his car, forcing him to manoeuvre a way out before jumping into the bushes to escape the attack.
Sadly, six of his passengers were unlucky as the herdsmen abducted them and headed straight into the forest.
The second driver had blood around the chest region of his shirt, panting while narrating how they seized his brothers and led them into the bush.
The day was still slightly bright when the incident took place and in the video, the man filming gave a detailed description of the road the tragic incident happened.
However, there was no account of any dead bodies during the ambush, but at the time of filing this report, the authorities had not given their position on the matter.
Regarding the abducted victims, there are no clues if their abductors would demand ransom since recent trends during periods near festivities draw record similar cases like the aforementioned.
