Herder, Cattle Under Arrest for Trespassing on Farmland

A herder has been apprehended for damaging farmland by parading his cattle to feed on crops owned by Mallam Habu Sa’idu in JigawaState.

The Jigawa State Police also confiscated the cattle for trespassing on the farm and feeding on the plants led by their owner.

The agency reported that the animals damaged crops worth two hundred thousand naira and would be charged to court at the appropriate time.

The culprit, a twenty-five-year-old man, was apprehended at Takatsaba village, Suletankarkar Local Government Area, LGA of the state.

Police Arrests Herder’s 73 Cows, 13 Sheep

Lawan Shiisu, the Police Spokesperson in the Jigawa State Command, said the culprit was picked up on October 10, 2021, including about seventy-three cows and thirteen sheep.

“Residents from the said village accompanied by the complainant went to challenge the herdsmen, who became violent and inflicted various degrees of injuries on the five persons,” Mr Shiisu said.

He noted that no life was lost during the incident, adding that the police officers have brought the situation under control.
