A Hausa actress by the name of Sadiya Haruna has been sentenced to jail for defamation of a colleague.
The actress was sentenced by a Kano Chief Magistrate Court to six months in prison without the option of a fine.
The Magistrate Court sitting at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, on Monday revealed that Sadiya Haruna defamed a colleague, actor Isa A. Isa.
The actress had in viral Instagram posts and videos alleged that Isa demanded anal sex from her, she also called him a homosexual, a bastard and an unrepentant womaniser.
The presiding judge Justice Muntari Dandago found the actress guilty of all counts against her then sentenced her to six months imprisonment without a fine.
The Judge further ruled that in case Haruna continued to defame Isa, she would be sentenced to three years in prison; the actress has up to three months to appeal the judgement.
