Gunmen Open Fire, Kill Custom officer In Jigawa State
Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed a custom officer in Jigawa state while leaving his colleague in a critical state. This incident occurred in the Kyaram community of the Ringim Local Government Area while the officers were on patrol yesterday.
According to the reports, the gunmen who were under the disguise of whistleblowers alerted the Custom officers that they had intel on a vehicle that was allegedly smuggling rice across the border and the officers dispatched for duty.
Upon getting to the location, the gunmen opened fire on them, killing one of the officers and injuring the other critically.
Superintendent Abdu Jinjiri, Police Spokesperson of the state, confirmed that the incident happened at about 4:30 in the afternoon and the hoodlums made away with two of the officers’ serviceable rifles.
SP Jinjiri says that there are efforts to trace the criminals and prosecute them accordingly.
