Tuesday, October 19, 2021, has been confirmed a public holiday, as the Federal Government of Nigeria announced yesterday in Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the Government, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, said the day is set aside to mark the 2021 Eid-el-Maulud Celebration.
The celebration, he elaborated, is observed in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), adding that all Muslim faithful should ensure they live a peaceful life.
He congratulated all the Muslims in Nigeria and those overseas for witnessing this year’s occasion with their families and friends.
Aregbesola admonishes all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance, which are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
He said that keeping the law of the almighty Allah would guarantee peace and security in the country, suggesting that all Nigerians can coexist and enjoy the celebration without any problem.
Ogbeni Aregbesola urged Nigerians, particularly Muslims, at this moment, to “refrain from violence, lawlessness, wantonness and other acts of criminality. As the indisputable leader of our race, we must show responsible leadership in Africa.”
