The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has cleared the air over those he described as the sponsor of the attacks on the correctional centre and Police Headquarters in Imo.
Uzodinma made this known a few days after the former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, blamed the attacks on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Eastern security Network, ESN (read more here).
Governor Uzodinma said some aggrieved politicians were behind the attacks, adding that the disgruntled politicians hired hoodlums outside Imo.
According to him, the hoodlums only disguised as IPOB members. Uzodinma stated that some known politicians in the State decided to destroy public government facilities.
Governor Uzodinma claimed that he had done some thorough investigation regarding those sponsoring the hoodlums.
Meanwhile, Uzodinma said he had urged security operatives in the State to expedite their investigations into the recent attack on Police and Nigerian Correctional Services facilities by hoodlums to ensure the perpetrators face justice.
Governor Uzodinma further called on the Security agencies to beam their searchlight on all possible suspects and avoid the temptation of focusing in only one direction.
He said the Executive Council of the Imo State Government made the decisions during a weekly meeting at the EXCO Chamber, Government House, Owerri.
