Godwin Emefiele: Reasons Nigerians want Heads to Roll in CBN

Share

Godwin Emefiele of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has been receiving plenty of backlashes from Nigerians, insults and calls for an immediate sack or humble resignation.

Some Nigerians took to their social media handles to criticise the governorship tenure of Emefiele from the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan up until the present President Muhammadu Buhari-led Administration.

The CBN Governor has been described as incompetent. The Citizens, on a large scale, blamed him for the continuous collapse of the naira, and the drop in Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP.

Over the years, Nigeria has failed to increase its export of goods to various neighbouring African Nations and their foreign counterparts.

Criticisms from the microblogging platform pointed to the devaluation of the Nigerian currency as the only concept the CBN Governor has upstairs, adding that he lacks ideas to grow the financial sector.

Again, the apex bank boss was criticised, for thinking that the solution to solving the Naira crash, is by printing, pumping and circulating new Naira notes into the economy.

Tweeps Blast CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele

On @Doctorcruise status, he tweeted that his recent experience at the Automated Teller Machine, ATM, showed that CBN just released new currency to banks despite the call to boost exportation, not money circulation.

He stated that in a sane country, persons placed in a sensitive financial advisory position like Godwin Emefiele should have resigned looking at the record of the CBN Governor tenure.

“But he keeps showing incompetence by printing more Naira notes into circulation; increasing the supply of an already dying currency.” He said.

Later in the year, the CBN Governor banned the sale of dollars to Bureau De Change, BDC operators, accused the AbokiFx website team of causing the downward slope of the economy.

He also warned that it’s illegal to buy dollars with the Nigerian naira, which was a good step in the right direction, but failed to target his warnings to the influential and wealthy engaging in the act.

The same cruise doctor further stressed that Emefiele is running out of ideas.

“Imagine him coming out to declare purchasing of dollar illegal, whereas his cronies share same dollars during the party’s primaries.” He added.
