Arsenal former forward Olivier Giroud is set to pen down a contract extension with the Europa league holders Chelseas. The 33-years-old Frenchman was rumoured to leaving in the January transfer window after he only made five Premier League appearances and entering the last six months of his contract.
Olivier Giroud was linked with a move to Inter Milan in the January transfer window but the moved failed after Chelsea failed to get a replacement for the attacker. Through the injury of fellow striker Tammy Abraham in January, he was able impress the manager Frank Lampard and since then he has been doing well in the club, he has so far scored two goals in four appearances.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard praised the former Arsenal player’s attitude at the end of the January transfer window despite being out of favour. The Manager said: “Olivier Giroud has been incredible in this window as a professional and a man.” “We all know there has been interest but he has been impeccable in that period and I’ve got huge respect for him for that, and as a player.”
Giroud moved from Arsenal to Chelsea in January 2018 for £18m on an initial 18-month deal, the French international then later extended his contract by another year in May 2019, he is now ready to pen down an additional one year contract the club until 2021.
