Former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has returned to his boyhood club Parma. The 43-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Italian side, relegated from Serie A last season. After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Buffon returned to the Italian side, which was his second spell at the club.
Gigi Buffon Returns to Parma
The 2006 World Cup winner made 176 international appearances for Italy and held the record for most Serie A appearances with 656 games. He made 14 appearances for Juventus last season. Following his decision to join Parma, Kyle Krause’s president expressed his joy as the goalkeeper returns.
Kyle Krause said: “We are thrilled to welcome Gigi Buffon home; it’s an extraordinary moment for all of us.” He made his debut for Parma in 1995 as a 17-year-old. Since leaving Parma in 2001 for Juventus in a £23.3m deal, he has only played for one other club for a world record for a goalkeeper.
