Gideon Okeke Laments On Maltreatment Of Actors In Nigeria
Reality tv star turned actor, Gideon Okeke laments on the unfair treatment meted out on actors in Nigeria.The actor shared this rant on his Instagram page in the first post where he wrote,
“Why is it right for ACTORS to NOT receive royalties and residuals for their life’s work in Nigeria. Is it because it says so in the contract? Is there really a contract? What the HECK does the guild stand for really?”
The thespian also shared a lengthy caption where he poured his mind about how actors were robbed of their dues. They get to be paid just their immediate check while their life’s work fattens the pocket of others.
Not satisfied with just one post, Gideon went on to make a 6-minute IGTV where he shared his experience with a very popular Television program that he worked on for 10 years. He recounted how he walked away from the project after ten years free of charge just because he would not tolerate the maltreatment.
He added that he was called a rebel for standing his ground and insisted that he would not cower because he knows his right.
The father of one ended the video saying that viewers should boycott any media production that maltreats the actors because, in the end, the viewers were the real bosses.
