Following the goalless draw played by the Super Eagles of Nigeria with Cameroon, the head coach Nigeria Gernot Rohr has come out to say his team is doing well regardless of their six games winless run. The manager further said the team would be ready to start the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this year in September.
Gernot Rohr Speaks on His Team Ahead of September Qualifiers
They lost to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 1-0 in the first friendly game they played. Nigeria has not been doing well for some time now. Their FIFA ranking has been dropping steadily since last year due to their poor performance.
Gernot Rohr said he is confident of his team despite the poor form and says his team will be better when they start the qualifiers in September. According to him, he said: “We will be ready in September for the World Cup qualifiers.”
The German tactician made this known to the Nigerian Football Federation NFF media after the 0-0 draw with Cameroon. Rhor also said he hopes the fans will return to the stadium in September. “We have to start well in Lagos (vs Liberia), and four days later, we play in Cape Verde. “Cape Verde beat Cameroon 3-1 on their synthetic pitch recently.”
“So, we know already that it will be challenging. “Our first two matches are very, very important.”
The Super Eagles will host Liberia in their first game in the qualifiers before travelling to Cape Verde for the next fixture.
