In the action packed new trailer for Angel Has Fallen, Gerard Butler becomes a fugitive from the law.

Angel Has Fallen, promises to offer a few kinks into the formula. First, Morgan Freeman’s character is now the President of the United States. Meaning Aaron Eckhart is no longer in the picture.

The core of the story is not unlike Taken 3, where our protective hero is now framed for an attack against the people he was supposed to protect. Leaving him little choice but to go on the lamb and concurrently clear his name and save the day.

Angel Has Fallen is directed by Ric Roman Waugh from a screenplay by Robert Mark Kamen and Matt Cook. Story by Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt and based on characters created by Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt. Lionsgate and Millennium Media present, a Millennium Films/G-Base production.

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Jada Pinkett Smith, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, Nick Nolte and Danny Huston.

Butler’s action star credentials were solidified by his performance in Olympus Has Fallen. And in 2016 he would build those credentials further by returning in the sequel London Has Fallen, which again saw Mike Banning going up against international terrorists. With designs on wreaking havoc by killing world leaders.

The second film was an even bigger hit than the first, grossing $205 million worldwide. It was no surprise then that Millennium Films quickly announced plans for a third movie, to be titled Angel Has Fallen, with Butler back as Banning.
