Gani Adams Blasts Govt Over Hike in Power, Gas Prices

Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, has condemned the country’s indiscriminate hike in electricity and gas prices.

He said that Nigerians are being extorted ferociously, especially by an administration that prides itself as a Government of the People. Adams said in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Aderemi.

Adams mentioned this yesterday while decrying the nation’s present state, particularly aspects affecting the masses negatively.

He inquired how convincing the Government would be in explaining a fifty-four per cent increase in electricity meter prices and the cost of gas?

The Government expected to regulate prices of some services or commodities owned by the private sector fails to carry out its responsibilities.

Refrain from Making Burdensome Policies- Gani Adams Tells FG

He urged the FederalGovernment to refrain from making burdensome policies, citing that the increase was off, adding that the FG is not sympathetic to the plights of the people.

Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission announced last week that the cost of electricity would rise 32.8 per cent and 21.7 per cent.

There will also be an increase in the price of a single-phase meter from N44,896.17 to N58,661.69 and a three-phase meter from the current cost of N82,855.19 to N109, 684.36.
