Harping on the fuel scarcity challenge facing Nigerians, Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, made a very reckless comment regarding the situation of things.
In a statement he issued on Friday 4, 2022, the presidential media aide loosely said that fuel scarcity is not a new thing in Nigeria, without showing any concern about the plights of everyday Nigerians struggling to get to work daily.
He comfortably asserted that Nigerian citizens have spent nights before in filling stations with the hopes of purchasing the commodity.
The genuine part of his statement pointed out how the fuel crisis has worsened and affected the living standards of Nigerians, stating that the Buhari-led administration is striving to return everything back to normal.
He said, “There were cases of bad fuel before in this country. We slept for days, weeks on end at petrol stations, queuing for fuel. We survived. We will survive again. Las las,” Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity said.
Adesina added that the period would soon be over, adding that the energy crisis in the country will also pass, and that person’s who appreciate good things will be made happy progressively.
His statement brought outrage among Nigerians on Twitter, as many used unprintable words to describe Adesina and the President Buhari-led administration.
