Spanish top side Barcelona suffered another heavy champion League defeat in their Champions League matchday two-game, and their midfielder Frenkie de Jong has come out to warned the board not to sack the head coach. The player says the Barcelona board should not sack Ronald Koeman despite contrasting results in La Liga and Europe.
Frenkie de Jong Wants Ronald Koeman to Stay
The Catalan side was beaten 3-0 by Bayern Munich in the opening feature of their Uefa Champions League clash. They also lost to Benfica on Wednesday 3-0 again, meaning they are now at the bottom of the group with minus six points.
Frankie de Jong said sacking the Dutchman would put the club at risk. De Jong felt that Barcelona’s performance in the first half wasn’t too bad, but the missed chances cost the Blaugrana. He said: “I don’t think changing the coach is the solution.”
Frenkie de Jong also said: “I can’t talk about Koeman. It’s not my place.” “We have to keep fighting, stay together and overcome this situation. We can only escape this with hard work and being united as a team.” “It’s a difficult moment, right. They scored the first goal very early.” “That always makes things difficult.”
“In the first half, we didn’t play badly; we created chances, but we didn’t score. After the second goal, the game was too open, and we didn’t react well.”
